0:28.2	Daily Grace Company. My name is Kyra and I'm a writer on staff. I'm so happy to be here with you.
0:34.0	Today we start the next book of the Bible,
0:37.0	Daniel.
0:38.0	Daniel is split into two distinct sections.
0:41.0	The first half details the life of four Israelite men who were captured
0:46.6	in exile to Babylon. And the second half is apocalyptic literature, which gives visions, prophesying events leading up to the Lord's
0:55.3	coming.
0:56.3	Overall, Daniel is a great book for seeing the importance of faithfulness through trying times and having hope in God's good kingdom.
1:05.3	Let's get started with Daniel's chapter 1 through 3. At the beginning of chapter 1
1:12.0	we learned that King Nebuchanese of Babylon invaded
1:15.8	Judah and took captives from Jerusalem.
1:19.1	As just punishment for the Israelites' disobedience, God removed his protecting hand and allowed
1:24.7	Nebuchanese to attack. Now the Israelites were in a foreign land and
1:29.6	distant from true worship as they were surrounded by pagan idols. But even in such distress, God
1:37.4	remained committed to them and showed favor upon the faithful. By God's grace these faithful ones were Daniel, Hananaia,
1:46.5	Michayel, and Azariah, who were later given Babylonian names. As men of nobility, they were taken into the king's palace and educated in
1:56.6	Babylonian culture. They were pressured to assimilate in ways that would dishonor
