points to Jesus. Hey everyone, welcome back to a year in the Bible of Daily Grace. My name is

Aubrey Coleman, one of the hosts for the podcast, and today we are looking at

the book of Second Thessalonians. A short time after Paul's previous letter to the

Thessalonians, false teachers arose saying that Jesus had already come. This was a

great discouragement to be told that the one thing they had hoped for had

already passed and that they were laboring in vain.

Some succumbed to the lies and gave up. They became undisciplined, lazy, and involved in everyone's affairs.

Because Paul cared so deeply for these people he wanted to reach

out again and address the troublesome issues they were dealing with in his letter.

First, Paul addressed the persecution from outside of the church, as he has done in the

previous letter. He's helping to put

everything into context because they gave their allegiance to King Jesus, the

world would oppose them and hate them even. But the hope remains that when Jesus

returns, God will bring full and final judgment to those who are against him and relief to his children.

All of God's people will stand in victory with Jesus Christ.

Then, Paul addressed the despair resulting from false doctrine.

He told them there were people intending to deceive and manipulate them into rejecting the truth of Jesus' return.
