Summary

In the tenth and final episode of British Murders Season 4, I tell the story of James Patterson Smith and Kelly-Anne Bates.⁣⁣⁣

On April 16, 1996, middle-aged James Smith drowned his 17-year-old girlfriend, Kelly-Anne, in the bath.⁣

Kelly-Anne had been brutally tortured by James for around 4 weeks prior to being murdered.⁣

Detective Sergeant Joseph Monaghan said he has never seen a case as horrific as this in his 15 years on the police force.⁣

James Smith was handed a life sentence on November 19, 1997, with a minimum term to serve of 20 years.⁣

This is one of the most brutal cases I’ve ever researched, so prepare yourself before listening.
