I did a four part series for four consecutive weeks on algorithms, clicks, input,

the power of our searches and how we can make a difference in media.

I invited my chief technologist Kareem Graves to have this discussion with me up next,

our conversation week one.

All right, so we have the Hub. News, the Hub dot news. Why do, what's

important to grow this to the place where we can actually make an impact, right?

So my dream is like we get so many people on there to prove

that we do care about things that are positive and good and wholesome, da da da da da,

that we want to be in charge of our own

you know our own images and things like that. How do I get that message out?

Post with purpose, like, seriously, like, if you, so if you go to Google right now and you

search swimmer, like, like we swim, like, we with gold medals. Yeah we go metals but you're gonna scroll

down that page for a while before you see a black swimmer or a swimmer of color of any sort, right?

So you have to input this information.

So I need to do a story about a black swimmer. And then once that gets out there, we got to post it, put it on Twitter, put it on, you know, retweet,

Facebook, all of that, right?

Which I haven't even gotten into yet but that's only one right right so

you mentioned a few sites earlier like Bossup and and

Blavity or whatever and all of those media take out media take out they can do the same thing because when the search

engines are actually looking or crawling those websites,

they're looking for this data to say swimmer, black, or they're looking for key words.
