This is Karen Hunter and welcome to the hub. I have someone that's with us right now who has a very personal Malcolm X story to share.

This would be his 95th birthday.

Let me welcome, it is Malcolm X Day everywhere, especially here on the Karen Hunter show.

She is a brilliant powerhouse of a woman who is definitely living the legacy of her dad.

Thank you so much Karen it's so good to see you.

I know the last time I saw you was last year in Florida actually at the

women of power,

empowerment, yes, the conference that they hold every year in South Florida

and you were dynamite, you were on a panel talking about your dad and I mean it was incredible I was sitting in the audience like

just beaming so I'm glad to see you here today I'm so happy to be here and we met a

long time ago right we met a lot yeah ago, right? We met a lot, yeah, well very long, it was 20 something, don't tell anybody. No, it was, it was not that long ago, I was said, we were in high school. We were just getting ready to go to high school. We were in grade school and yeah no no I mean listen I have

watched your your your your your trajectory you know I keep using that word

because you have really come into this

space and you really are your dad's daughter right now and when I hear you speak

I'm like yes this is what that seasoning looks like

talk a little bit about that day in the Audubon theater because you were there the day that your dad was shot

I was there I don't I don't but you know I always say that you know there's trauma right because it was a loud noise my father never came, my mother often shared the story of how he used to come home and we'd share cookies, the news and all this stuff.

And when he was gunned down,

that I would go to the door waiting for him

and he wouldn't come.
