This is Karen Hunter and welcome to the hub. So another black teenager was suspended and told he could not return to class

until he cut his locks in Texas. This is the Barbers Hill High School in Mount Bellevue in Southeast Texas.

I think that's near Houston. Crazy, right? In America in 2020, we have a dress code that targets hair. This latest kid

Caden Bradford 16 years old is a sophomore. He had been on a home suspension for a week because they changed

arbitrarily the dress code. Now, Caden actually is the cousin of De André

Arnold,

who's a senior at the school, who wears his hair in locks

as well.

They're Trinidadian.

They said it's part of their culture.

And Deandro was told he could not walk.

He could not go to his graduation until he cut his hair.

So I was thinking about this because on my radio show

on Serious XM Urban View, Channel 126.

we constantly get into these conversations.
