This is Karen Hunter and welcome to the hub. So I've done more than 170 podcasts and roughly I would say 80% of them are

inspirational. Inspirational for me. They are to inspire me to continue to do the things that I'm doing and I

hear all the time, you know nobody's perfect nobody's perfect. Why are you

Vincent Peel said shoot for the moon even if you miss you'll land among the stars and I

think you know if we don't strive for more than what we see if we don't push ourselves to do more, to be more, then we're not going to live our best lives.

Iron sharpens iron, that's a scripture, but also, you know, we are propelled in this world by one another, you know, and as a teacher I was just

having one of the best semesters ever.

Let me just say my students are amazing, both of my classes and I teach full time at Hunter

College.

They're full.

The kids are smart.

But this semester I feel valuable and valid like this is I've been teaching now for 17 years. Wow. I've been teaching for 17 years and some semesters you get into this rut you know you put it on automatic you have your

syllabus you rinse and repeat you do the same thing over and over again, but I made a decision

this semester that I was going to be the best professor I could possibly be. And that required me taking

it up a notch, and that required me having different different goals not for myself but for my students and my goal is that every kid that is in my class I want them to be inspired to live their best life.

Now I'm teaching talk radio and entertainment journalism

two things that you know have very little to do probably with living your best life

but I have baked that into the soil and as I approach each and every

class it's the question to myself is what can I bring to the table to make this

experience great for them.

And I'm not even thinking about it from an academia standpoint.
