And this today we're going to talk about an actual figure in history

that has been immortalized in fiction but all of the truth that's in this book is

amazing but before I get to the book let me tell you about the legend that I'm about to sit with right now and

we're talking about somebody who

Her artistry some of you have seen before

She actually wrote one of artistry some of you have seen before.

She actually wrote one of the first books where she told the truth about Sally Hemings

and Thomas Jefferson and she was excoriated for that.

People were like, this didn't have hold on I'm gonna let me bring you

in properly me because I is very you know my my life's mission is to sit at the feet

of people like you and I'm so excited to have you here today but they didn't

believe that Sally Hemings was raped by Thomas Jefferson and that that story was

true and she wrote a book about it in 1979 and now we all know what happened. She also studied anatomical

drawing at Temple University School of Medicine which was a springboard to

how she got into the the sculptures that she did. She did this Malcolm X piece 96. She was among

artists that were commissioned for artwork at the African Burial Ground National Monument. She

did a statue there. an amazing 18 foot bronze memorial,

Africa Rising, she wrote a poem about it.

And she's got so many first, first, first, first,

first, black woman to receive an MFA degree from Yale

And I haven't even scratched the surface so her new book her new book is a book about a woman named Hannah Elias and I again I told you I was
