This is Karen Hunter and it to the to the mic because I think it's important that we have these discussions publicly and you asked me a question about the new Mohammed Ali that.

And I was saying that, you know, for me, I'm sure Kim Burns did an excellent job because he's a very skilled

documentarian but for me I realize that everything that we consume has been

curated you know we had this conversation in class with

car on Saturday, curated for us to feel and think to be indoctrinated to

participate in this thing called America, you know, and I was watching CBS Sunday morning. I was telling you about that and Mayberry they did this whole Ted Copple went to Mayberry, which doesn't exist. It's a fictional town somewhere in North Carolina is not real, but yet, you know, I remember growing up, you know, like a little Opie and Andy and and golly, you know, the Gomer Pyle and and a little Barney Fife and them and you know, you related to them even if you didn't see yourself and you aspire to this wholesome, you know, life and we all like kind of grew up, you know, wanting to get married and moved to a town like that, but in reality, that town would never let me and you in there.

We couldn't eat at the lunch counters.

We will be treated like trash and I feel like, you know, we're at an inflection point where everything

we consume has to be second-guessed and examined through that lens.

And I'm not even saying Ken Burns is nefarious.

I'm saying that he doesn't have the capacity to see us, because many of us don't have the capacity to see us,

because many of us don't have the capacity to see us.

We don't even see ourselves except through that same lens.

So we judge one another in ourselves based on what we've been indoctrinated to believe about what this is.

And so yeah, everything that I watch now, I'm like, all right, what's the agenda?

Who is it served? And I think, you you know there's some black folk that are putting out content and even I don't think they're doing it to destroy black people but I think you know it's like white acceptance is everything we were just you know watching the emies this weekend and it's like okay

Who are these awards for the crown the crown got all all the awards so we're celebrating a monarchy that propagated slavery and and horrors throughout you know Latin

Central Latin America to the Caribbean and divvied up Africa with their German and their Dutch and their French brethren and you know made a plan for us in like what we owe the crown, you it's like really really we this is what we're doing all these

monuments of of mediocrity that we erect the people who could never do the things that were done previously.

All they do is borrow and steal and then rape pillage and destroy,

but there's some good things, right?

So, you know, I'm sure Mohammed Ali looks really well the the clips that I've seen is well done but I have to watch it with a different eye now thanks to you know when you know better you just have to do better.
