Summary

On Tuesday at the Ryder Cup, Andrew is stuck on a plane getting angry about a situation which he is powerless to prevent, yet he is somehow soothed by a voice message from Laurie Canter confirming that, it is true, his mother was one of Pan's People. Eddie and Iain chat in a more focussed way about the build-up at Bethpage and after hearing from Luke Donald, Iain has a conversation with US captain Keegan Bradley. Andrew does make a cameo appearance to ask Eddie who he thinks might be the best European player of all time.

and a proud supporter of to the shipping forecast. This is obviously not Andrew

0:31.7

Carter speaking. This is Eddie Pepperel with special guest Ian Carter, who's at Bethpage Black.

0:36.6

The reasons for Andrew's

0:37.9

absence is he was due to fly from L.A. to New York today, but his flight has been delayed. I think

0:44.0

he said that a passenger had dropped a phone down a seat, so as one could imagine, he will be

0:49.5

fuming right about now as he's flying. But nonetheless, we are with you, and Ian, as I say, the special guest, Ian Carter's with us. Ian Howls things over at Bethpage Black? Yeah, they're very good, actually, Eddie. It's been a good day. Weather-wise has been nice. I just keep thinking about so many of our email is calling Captain Grumpy, which I don't think, have we ever called

1:11.4

him Captain Grumpy on the pod? I'm not sure, but the listeners call, there's so many listeners

1:16.7

call him Captain Grumpy. And the thought that a business class passenger dropping their phone

1:22.7

into the mechanism of a reclining seat has caused the delay, which means he can't be on the chipping forecast.

1:29.5

While that may must make him furious, it makes me laugh a lot, I must say.

1:34.3

Yeah, I think I agree. Those shoes can only walk so fast, but no good if the flight's delayed, of course.

1:40.3

But yeah, I did speak to him earlier, which we'll get to you later in one of the adories. But he was looking good, though, I must say. I think he's been working out. He might be grumpy, but he's got some lumpy arms. So that was good. He's a sneaky trainer. He is. I don't know how he packs it all in. But, yeah, so anyway, I'll look forward to seeing him tomorrow.

2:02.9

Got a real sense today of the, that this is now finally Rider Cup week.

2:09.6

You know, yesterday there weren't any spectators at the course.

2:14.3

And yes, we heard from the captains.

2:16.8

And by the way, we're going to hear from

2:18.3

Keegan Bradley my interview with Keegan Bradley later in this Chipalata but it was just all a

2:25.3

bit you know calm before the storm but we had spectators in today and the Europeans played

2:31.8

18 holes of practice.

2:40.3

It was interesting when the European players came to the tea, especially when Rory McElroy was in the first group out and John Rahm, a couple of groups later, they got
