Summary

This week on RunPod, showing it’s never too late to give running a go, Jenni’s joined by someone who started her running journey earlier this year, eventually graduating from Couch 2 5K. It's the fabulous TV presenter, Ruth Langsford. Ruth says from the start she’s going to be truthful about her time as a runner and so talks about how it felt to start and then to ‘graduate’, the uplifting and motivating parts she loved….and the parts she didn't like so much! She discusses what it was like finding running now as opposed to in younger years, why she felt it was key to share her journey online, whilst also not being the most graceful runner and how you get through the hard parts. It is an inspiring listen that will motivate new runners whilst also reminding those of us who have been pounding pavements for a while about those early days. Regardless of your running experience, this episode will make you reach for your runners. Happy running. joined by someone who graduated from couch to 5K this summer, Ruth Lagsford. Hello there. Hello, I love

0:40.7

that, graduated. I feel like I should have one of those mortarboard hats and be letting off

0:44.8

balloons and streamers. I know. I'm sure if there was a kind of graduating in running kind of

0:51.0

mortarboard hat, it would come with some kind of Lycra outfit with it as well.

0:54.4

That would be it.

0:55.5

It would have to, wouldn't it?

0:56.9

It would have to say that it was a really nice feeling,

0:59.4

you know, when it pops up on your phone

1:01.6

and they do little kind of these little firework things

1:04.1

and going, congratulations, you've passed, you've graduated.

1:07.4

And it was a huge, huge sense of achievement, actually.

1:10.5

Yeah, I bet. So how does it feel

1:12.0

to be a runner now? Well, it felt great when I'd done it, but I have to be absolutely honest with

1:19.1

everybody. Once I graduated, I thought, right, I'm just going to give myself a few days off.

1:25.2

Then I got a bit busy. I had to help Jack move to uni and move his

halls and things. So that was another kind of, they started to become excuses. Then it was I did go
