Warstar. George says it's a choice the US has once upon a time in September of

1940 some people got together and undergraduate at Yale,

a retired general, Charles Lindbergh eventually, and they found the America First, that was

the way of saying to the Roosevelt administration, don't start a war.

And yet, George War Start is a choice the U.S. has now in this confrontation with Putin.

We could say there's another war start in Asia, but we'll stay with the Putin war start.

You note in your essay that there are choices, and sometimes the choices are poor and worse and the US

creates problems for itself by choosing the wrong moment or waiting till it's attacked.

Are we in another moment like this, George, 1940 or 1964?

Are we there again?

Not quite, not yet, but moving that direction. The important thing is this. We've spent

the 20th century at war in Europe, the first world war, the second world war the cold war now this one we have an interest in

Europe not particularly because we here in Europe they can't attack us we care

about the North Atlantic.

The various wars all began in the North Atlantic with them cutting our access to the oceans.

That threatens us.

That's not happening in this war.

But nevertheless, we've learned that if you don't

act early in the situation, you're not going to get a chance later on or it's going to cost you much more.

Imagine if the United States had sent troops to France and been there when the Russians attacked.
