Russian and Ukrainian officials have met face-to-face for the first time in three years.

Delegations from both countries sat down for peace talks in Turkey,

but neither of them sent their leaders, so expectations were low.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Keith Kellogg were also in Turkey.

The Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has criticized his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin,

for not sending, quote, any real decision makers to the discussions.

President Donald Trump says he plans to meet with Putin soon.
