Mr Putin was in Pyongyang

young in these last hours making statements of mutual affection with Kim Jong-un.

In addition, Mr. Putin made remarks saying that the sanctions regime is a tool that the West uses to maintain its hegemony.

What sanctions tools?

Well we come to the question of consumer goods in Russia.

I learned from Bloomberg reporting that Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola,

and other iconic brands never left the country. What they did is that they moved from one handler

to another handler to another handler,

to another handler, middlemen in other words.

You ship it to Germany, it ships to Moscow.

That of course makes everything more expensive,

but that's consumer goods.

What I learn also from the Financial Times is that Russia has access to machine tools, really good

machine tools for its defense industry, but everything's more expensive

because it's added middlemen in the example being a Japanese-made, very high high performance machine tooling.

That was shown in a photograph of Shoygu standing in front of it,

the defense minister, last spring.

That tool, that machine tool from a Japanese company was available because the Japanese

company no longer uses it. It puts it for sale, for used equipment buyers.
