Hey, Stickheads. We are back with another episode of Stories that Stick with Chad Quant. Getting excited to talk about a topic that I care about this time. That makes it sound like I didn't care about the other ones. No, uh, associate producer and my partner, Jacqueline Heidi. While we've been making this, have been like, well, what's something do you want to talk about, Chad? And I honestly never considered I'd pick something. Uh, I'm just that selfless and that humble. Marvel's runaways from 2003, it's something that stuck with me.

I think about it a lot.

It's one of my favorite comics, whether it's Marvel or indie or anything.

I think this is a really great cast of characters and a story that feels unique and has really inspired a lot of the storytelling I've done since then.

I love this book. I think you'll hear my passion for this come across.

Jacqueline Heidi had also read this early on. Honestly, one of the main things is that we sort of bonded when we first started dating was sharing

stories with each other and this is one of the first ones i gave to her another one which we've

covered on the podcast last year is house of leaves which i hope to kind of do another

retrospective at some point we did that episode with elspeth eastman supposed to be backrooms

became house of leaves anyway runaways is fantastic There's so much to talk about in these six

issues. That's right. This is just volume one, number one through number six. We started reading

the entire first collected volume that goes all the way to like number 18. I thought somehow

we're going to have time to cover all 18 issues in this episode. You'll see pretty quickly, we realize you need to make this a multi-part episode. So this is just through volume 1, number 1 through 6. If you want to read those and follow along with the rest of us, I think you can find most of these on like the streaming unlimited apps. a copy of Runaways. They even made these as sort of like a younger, smaller manga version of

Runaways because they're really trying to get the young audiences to, please, please check out

Marvel. I promise it's not going to be super bogged down in lore and continuity and multiverses.

easy to find as far as comic book graphic novels go. I want to start talking about it now. We talk

about it in the episode. Yeah, enjoy this. I think you kind of see too. I'm not used to hosting

myself with Jacqueline, and I wanted to talk more about my personal journey with it. I think we get to the very end of the episode. We're going to get into more of it in part two as we get into the later parts of this story. I think you'll still enjoy this discussion if you haven't read runaways though I highly recommend it.
