So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin.

Once upon a time there was a miller who was poor, but he had a beautiful daughter.

When the man had to go to speak to the king, he wanted to appear important and said to him,

My daughter can spin straw into gold.

Well, that pleases me very much, said the king. I should like to meet her.

Bring her to my palace tomorrow, and we shall witness her gift.

And so, the next day, the miller brought his daughter to the palace.

The king led her into a room which was filled with straw and wheels piled high almost to the ceiling.

In the centre of the room was a spinning wheel. The king told the girl, get to work, for if by morning you have not spun every stalk of this straw into gold,

you shall be banished. The king locked the girl in the room, leaving her alone with her work.

The poor girl sat in the room and began to weep, for she had no idea how to spin

straw into gold. Suddenly the door opened and in walked a little man. Good evening, Mistress

Miller, he said. Why are you crying?' The girl replied,

"'I have been ordered to spin straw into gold,

but I do not know how to do it.

"'What will you give me if I do it for you?'
