So Echo Thief is a library of reverberation that I've captured from real spaces around

North America. While I was at

Stanford, I had the opportunity to work with one of the coolest dudes I've ever met. Dr. John

Abel, he taught me how to take impulse responses. Basic idea is, you know, clap, that's an impulse.

When you send that into a space and record what comes back, that's the impulse response, the response of a space to an impulse.

So if you have an impulse response, you can drop it into a convolution reverb plugin, of which every DA has one.

You can make any sound seem like it happen in the space that you've measured.

And so what this means is, I have a backpack, carry all this gear that I need to take these

impulse responses.

I can take this to wherever I can find an interesting sonic space, a place that really folds

sound nicely, sounds beautiful to my ears.

And I can capture that and put it in the library so it's usable by anyone who wants to relocate sound.
