Hi. Hi, everybody. This is the Untold Story podcast, and I'm Martha McCallum. I'm really glad today to be joined by Christopher Anderson, who I've known over the years covering royal stories and going back to the early jubilees and the wedding of Kate and William.

And now he's written a book, which is very timely, called The King, The Life of Charles III.

And we look forward in the spring in May to the coronation of Charles at Westminster Abbey.

And Chris, welcome.

You write beautifully about the history of Westminster Abbey.

And I know we'll get into that at some point.

But let me just get your thoughts first on how you see Charles sort of settling into his role.

And we also have some breaking news on Megan and Harry that I want to get to you.

But what do you think about the king so far?

Well, it's amazing, isn't it, that a guy who's been waiting for this job, his entire life,

74 years, is unprepared in a sense for what could, you know, what's been happening.

What he wanted to do is

first of all people have the misconception that he's going to be just kind of a keeping the throne

warm for will you well that's not what's going to happen this guy really wants to make

changes in the monarchy he wants to leave his mark on history but uh instead of getting this kind of

smooth transition he's handed all of these problems.
