This week on the show, I was joined by the government minister, Rory Stewart,

to talk about Britain's foreign aid commitments.

And I also spoke to two Labour MPs, Barry Gardner and Lisa Nandi, about what's been a very difficult week for their party.

Finally, we looked ahead to the Assembly elections in Northern Ireland. It's not been an easy week for the Labour Party to say the least.

They might have won the by-election in Stoke-on-Trent Central, but their majority was cut.

And in Copeland, they lost a seat that they've held for over 80 years to the Conservatives.

This was the first time a sitting government has taken a seat off the opposition in a by-election

since 1982. Now, the one shadow cabinet minister who was brave enough to come on my show

and talked to us about this was Barry Gardner, the shadow international trade secretary,

so credit to him for being brave enough. And I began by asking him whether the Copeland result

was a devastating verdict on what Labour is offering voters. Look, it was. It was a terrible

night for us. We went down by, what, six, so similar seven percentage points in the polls in Copeland.
