It's already the month of Kislev, or if you're going by that other calendar, it's December.

Which means that the year is almost over and everyone is scurrying away someplace warm to light

the menorah or roast chestnuts on an open fire or do whatever it is that we do in this merriest of

seasons. So we figured it would only be right to take a little break and give you all a little

gift, a fun-sized best of the rootless podcast for the year. If you've been with us for a while,

you know what to expect. Observations and

conversations that are rarely cuddly, often insightful, always essential. Why? Because the times,

as a clever Jew once put it, they are a changing. And because there's nothing sadder than a dumb

Jew and because if you want to figure out what's going on,

you better be ready for some real tough talk.

What we give you on this show isn't a viewpoint.

It's not some partisan hack attempt to convince you that this side is always right or that side is always wrong.

No one has the time for that.

We are Jews.

And Jews from Moses to Joey Ramon, have always been outsiders. The purpose of this show is to ask crucial and disturbing questions,

like, should we still be sending our kids to college?

Or should Israel actually annexed parts of Lebanon?

Or are we thinking about abortions all wrong? Or how do we go

about and unravel a justice system that is now actively thwarting justice on behalf of
