Joshua chapter 1, verse 8.

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night,

so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.

For then you will make your way prosperous. And then you will

have good success. Oh, this is such a good verse that summarizes so much of what we've seen,

especially in Deuteronomy, but all throughout the first five books of the Old Testament. And now,

as we transition into God's people are about to go into the

promised land, we have this verse that summarizes what God's word does in our lives and why it is

necessary for us in order to experience life. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth,

but you shall meditate on it day and night. Just think about what that would look like in your

life. For God's word to not depart from your mouth. Think about it. That means it's on your

mind all the time. What comes out of your

mouth is what's on your mind, that God's word is on your mind all the time because you're

meditating on it day and night, not just reading it, not just checking off a box, but soaking it in,

enjoying it, learning from it, applying it to your life so that you may be careful

to do according to all that's written in it. We've prayed this in Deuteronomy. Be careful

to obey God's word, all that is written in it. For then, here's the promise, you will make your way prosperous. Then you

will have good success. Do you want that in your life? Do you want success and prosperity?

Like true success, true prosperity, not worldly definition of these things, but what God who

made you and loves you and knows what is best for you, what God

defines as success and prosperity, do you want that in your life?
