What's up everyone? Welcome back to the epic gardening podcast. Today we're talking about root maggots on the rampage. How do you wipe out root maggots and lo and behold these things attack bracica's just like basically every other pest on this green earth.

root maggots. So what are these things? Well they are basically just the

larval stage of flies in the Delia genius and they are a frustrating

pest to deal with and as their name would suggest they will take root in the roots. Now there are a couple different

varieties that you would want to watch out for. First would be the Delia

Antiqua or the onion fly or onion maggot. So as you might imagine these will attack things in the

allium family. They will bore into and devour the interior of let's say your

leaks or they'll eat holes through your onions, which are devastating because for a root crop, that is the

crop.

You don't want that happening to your root crop.

Not that you would want that happening to the roots of another crop, but especially when you're going to eat the roots, it's even more unappetizing.

Second one is the Delia Platura or seed corn maggot or bean seed fly.
