Summary

The “October Surprise” is a phrase within the American political lexicon, referring to some last-minute unlikely event that has the potential to change the course of a presidential election. Today we review “October Surprise” cases that never earned a place in mainstream American history. In 1968, the Nixon campaign allegedly sabotaged Lyndon B. Johnson’s diplomatic efforts to pull out of Vietnam. During the 1980 election, the Reagan campaign allegedly colluded with Iran to delay the release of US hostages in Iran in order to thwart Jimmy Carter. Both cases are egregious and today we discuss their validity. https://www.patreon.com/brohistory Episode #164 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
