Hello, my name is James Acaster, and in 2017, I had a breakdown. And I dealt with that breakdown by buying as much music from

2016 as I possibly could.

As a result, I now own over 600 albums that came out in 2016, I'm convinced is the greatest

year for music of all time.

But it's not enough me being convinced, I also want to convince every single one of you and

a different guest every week.

Now this week, the album from 2016 that I've chosen

is Lemonade by Beyonce.

This is actually one of the albums that I discovered in 2016 itself.

A little precursor to the 2017 story is that in 2016,

I noticed a few really great records, mainstream records,

and I don't think it was possible anymore,

for there to be

these big, influential, experimental boundary pushing albums coming out in the mainstream by some

of the biggest recording artists are live today. So I bought Lemonade and completely changed my mind

on popular music. I got a hot sauce in my mix, what I can end of 2016, I started paying attention to the end of year lists for the first time, thanks to albums like this.

And they bought me a great source of joy.

Then in 2017, my life fell apart.

Various things, relationships breaking down, etc. And so what I did, in order to make myself feel
