Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our last searchlight program, we began a verse-by-verse study of one of the most powerful chapters in

the Bible. It is Romans chapter 6, and it tells us about dealing with our sin in a powerful

and practical way. The Apostle Paul tells us that there are three things that we should know.

The first is that we have a new identification with Jesus. In

baptism, our sinful old man was buried with him. As we pick up our teaching today, we are still

talking about this point. With our study, here now is Pastor John. That's what baptism is.

Paul is saying, know this. Hey, when you were baptized, there's a new identification. You're dead to the old stuff, man. That's buried. You're now publicly linked to. You're publicly associated with Jesus Christ through baptism.

That is why baptism is important, gang.

You're going on record, publicly.

People may look at you and see you in that amphitheater before thousands of people being baptized and say, man,

what are you doing?

Let them think you're all wet.
