section of the Bible. This may surprise you but we're in the book of Romans.

Romans chapter 6, and this is so rich and so meaty and so profound.

That we're just going to look at three verses today.

We're going to look at verses 12 through 14 in Romans 6. And these verses find

themselves in the middle of the section on sanctification and just to remind you the word

sanctification refers to the process of becoming holy H-O-L-Y and that's what God's

doing in your life and in my life.

He is taking us down this path where we are becoming less and less like the world.

And we're becoming more and more like Christ and it's a lifelong

journey and we will never reach perfection but we're making progress and that's what God's about in our lives and some of us have

been on this path for a long time 50 years 60 60 years.

Others of us have just gotten on this path a year ago, two years ago, but we're in process.

And so Paul in Romans 6 has begun a brand new section on sanctification.

Chapters 3 through 5 was about justification, the moment we believe in Christ, and were declared to be

the righteousness of God in Christ.

Now we're in sanctification and how our salvation works out on an ongoing practical basis.

And what Paul is doing is he's really laying a foundation. At some point when we get to chapter 12 he'll begin to
