The Apostle Paul taught in Romans chapter 3, there is no one righteous, not even one.

There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks God. All have turned away,

and together have become worthless. There is no one who does good, not even one. Calvinist often

referenced this verse in support of their doctrine called total depravity.

If our Calvinistic friends only meant by depravity that men are fallen, sinful and under condemnation because of sin, we would be in full agreement.

However, Calvinists go much further than this.

For Calvinist, total depravity actually means moral inability.

It's the doctrine that teaches that because of the fall of man, all people are born morally

unable to confess that they're fallen, sinful, and condemned, and they're unable to receive help

even if it's offered by God himself.

John MacArthur, a well-known Calvinistic pastor, explains, Romans three, none righteous, not even one, none who understands, none who seeks for God.

No potential, no capability, no hope on our own. The sum is that man is evil and selfish,

unwilling and unable because he is dead. This doctrine has been called total depravity.

It is total because it affects absolutely everything.

The sinner is utterly unable to raise himself out of his state of death,

to do anything to see out of his blindness.

Unless God moves in power over the dead soul and brings true life and understanding and repentance

and faith, no one will ever come to the true God in true saving faith.

Until God regenerates, gives spiritual life, we have neither the ability nor the inclination

to cooperate with him.

Regeneration is monogistic.

It is a work of God because the fall has rendered us totally
