So let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father as we look now at this passage we need

your illumination, the ministry of the Holy Spirit to be our primary teacher. So open our eyes that we may behold

wondrous truths in your word and help us understand how we are to put this into practice in our lives.

Okay, take your Bible. Romans chapter 14.

Today, Lord willing, we're going to look at

verses 5 through 9, 5 through 9.

And the title that I've put on this is simply this, a dispute over days.

And a title really is just a succinct summary of what a cluster of verses is about.

And the big idea of this passage really is a dispute over days.

So the title is really almost like the acorn in which the whole forest is contained. So let me begin by reading these

verses starting in verse five and to remind you this whole section is about Christian liberty, our liberty in Christ

regarding the freedom that we have not to be under the Old Testament regulations of the law.

So of the ceremonial law beginning in verse five one person regards one day above another
