About the Speaker:


Fr. Dominic Langevin, O.P., is dean and assistant professor of dogmatic theology at the Dominican House of Studies, where he teaches courses principally in sacramental theology and liturgiology. He is the secretary/treasurer of the Academy of Catholic Theology. He did his undergraduate degree at Yale University. He entered the Dominican Order in 1998 and was ordained a priest in 2005. He earned his doctorate from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He is the author of the book From Passion to Paschal Mystery and was editor of the journal The Thomist from 2018 to 2021.

So in working with the Timisic Institute organizers here on campus, we thought we'll try to do something a bit different,

an example that we can use as a particular theme, just human interest over the course of this

talk. So yesterday was also the Super Bowl. Now I understand I did my research

kind of going in. I was kind of thinking about this over the last month or two, seeing who's going to

win the playoff games and wondering how this would have, you know, kind of be of interest or not to Iowans.

So I did find, at least, on the internet, that some are Iowans from

southern part of Iowa root for a Kansas City of Chiefs. So maybe there was some Kansas

Chief fans. But then at the same time, you know, there's, you know, a quarterback from San Francisco

49ers, Brock Purdy, was Iowa State.

So maybe for a minimum hearing, most of you actually were rooting for the 49ers and not for the Kansas City Chiefs.
