The Roman Empire was the most powerful empire in the eastern hemisphere at the time of Christ.

In fact, by the time of the birth of Christ, the Roman Empire had spread far and wide,

enveloping most of the other civilizations around them.

Israel, too, had become an occupied territory of the Roman Empire.

Paul, the Apostle, was a Roman citizen by birth.

He was the Apostle chosen by God to bring the gospel of salvation to the Romans after the

death and resurrection of Christ.

If you have listened to episode 7 of real cool history for kids, you may remember the

weird dream that the ancient Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar had about a huge statue made

from a variety of metals.

In King Nebuchadnezzar's dream, the statue represented mighty kingdoms that would rise

and fall.

Babylon, the golden head kingdom, was overthrown by the silver, chest, and arms kingdom,

the meadow Persians.
