the new book Magic, the Life of Irvin Magic Johnson, how you doing Roland?

Doing great guys, how are you doing great?

Great.

I got to tell you, I was prusing the book and one thing just very early that you wrote

about that jumped out at me is you interviewed Magic's high school coach.

You said more than 50 times, I think he passed away, but you interviewed him 50 times.

That's some in-depth research.

Yeah, we know it is, but a great untold part of Magic's story is back in the 70s during

the school busing crisis and you know, in Lansing, they were trying to integrate the all-white

high school there and it started actually with Magic's older siblings and the coaches

who would eventually coach Magic kicked five black boys off the JV team just before Christmas

1972.

Four of them took it well.

One of them with Magic's brother Larry who told the coaches he hated him.
