Consider a face that seems etched in a permanent state of youthful curiosity, yet carries the weight of a thousand lifetimes.

You have seen this face before, perhaps on a man desperate to escape the confines of a lunar zoo,

or maybe hidden beneath layers of a Simeon mask.

And you certainly heard him calling the name of his tortured butler, Portafoy.

The person I'm talking about is, of course, Roddy McDowell. And while his contribution to the

fifth dimension was brief a single haunting excursion into a cosmic cage, he holds the distinction of making an

indelible mark on the Holy Trinity of Rod Sailing Creations.

His career was a map of the sailing landscape, a journey that led him not only into the

twilight zone, but into the shadows of the

night gallery and onto the shores of Planet of the Apes.

But how much do we understand about the man behind the masks?
