Alright, welcome to Talkers Jericho. It's the part of Thunder and Rockin' Rollin' Today on Talkers Jericho.

This is huge for me.

Winnipeg's legendary rock music guru, a walking, talking, human encyclopedia of popular music

and one of my childhood inspirations, Howard Manshin is here. He called himself a rockologist

and wait to hear this guy's voice when I was growing up in Winnipeg.

Anything that Howard Manshin said to me was gospel from all the people that he interviewed,

all the bands that he told me to check out.

The rockologist, Howard Manshin, he used to call myself a rockologist after him.

Everyone calls him H and wait to hear his stories. He's interviewed everybody, including Sir Paul McCartney,

Guns and Roses when they were just starting out. Burton Cummings and the Guess Who,

and Howard had his favorite bass player from his favorite band of all time.

John Antwistle of the Who hung out at his house, plus he was very influential in the Canadian scene.

Many of the bands should have made it bigger in the States, but didn't like the tragically hip,

Street Heart, Harlequin, the list goes on and on.

We'll talk about the way the music business has changed and how it's affected radio

and a DJ's ability to break bands. Howard Manshin is here.

You may never have heard of him, but trust me, he is a trip and a true rockologist, just like me.

One of the reasons why I got into rock and roll and wanted to be playing in a band was because it was because of Howard Manshin.
