Dinger is the name that was chosen for the Colorado Rockies mascot. We spoke yesterday in detail

about what happened at the Rockies Marlins game on Sunday, where Lewis Brinson, the sole African

American, played in that game as far as I remember, was at the plate and microphones around the

stadium in Colorado picked up what people thought was the N word. Investigation started. I explained

to you exactly what the Rockies would do, exactly what Major League Baseball is going to do.

There were people quick to judge. It was Bartman-like, almost, in people attacking the fan who was in

some sort of video looking like he was yelling, though no one could match up the lips in the

mouth. It was a whole thing. Immediately someone came out and said, no, he was yelling for Dinger.

Two sections over the mascot to come take a photo. Can't imagine he's the first person to

yell Dinger in Rockies Ballpark. Of course, field, I would think not. I think Dinger's been the name

for the duration, at least since the mascot started. Don't even know the year, but it's been a while.

But let's pretend that no one ever called Dinger's name and let's pretend that if they did,

they enunciated it perfectly. Let's pretend that no one picked it up on a microphone. After the

game on Sunday, no players said they heard anything, which I found to be interesting, if not
