member for SCU which is the scientific coalition for UAP Studies.

He was the Director of Research at Mufon from 2007 to 2017, also creating their Science Review Board

in 2012, an author with almost two decades of research into this topic behind

him, including numerous papers published.

He's also an engineer with a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

I'd love to welcome to the podcast Mr Robert Powell. Robert how are you?

Hi Andy it's nice to be on your podcast. Listen it's good to finally get you on lots of

interest as well from the listeners when I first announced you were coming on a good few weeks ago now

good to be here. Let's get lots to talk about so Robert let's start right back at the

beginning for you what were your sort of earliest memories or earliest interest in the

UFO topic? I first became interested when I was a teenager. I read J Alan Heinek's book, The UFO Experience.

And so that kind of caught my attention.

But at the time, high school was there, college afterwards, then you get married, raise a family.

So I didn't have time for UFOs until after, I retired early. So at about the age of 53 I started studying on the

UFO subject and and that's been 17 years now. So it definitely has captured my attention.

So quite a passive interest before then to say not something you ridiculed or stigmatized

but it was just there it wasn't a thing for you in your life. Is that fair enough?

That's very fair. It was not, it was just a passive interest.

And when I left American Business basically, I said, okay, what are the things I want to do in life?
