There's already been studies done. There was one in a more urban area that just adding a relative few vehicles, the amount of electricity used in that area doubled.

So it's very foreseeable that if it costs twice as much to produce electricity, you and I are going to pay twice as much for our home bills. This is your host, Scott Bertram, and that's Bob Norton,

Vice President and General Counsel for Hillsdale College, also former General Counsel for

Daimler, Chrysler, and Mercedes. Dealing with governmental relations and regulations, we talk

with Bob today about the stress electric vehicles might put on the electric grid

and how electric vehicles perform in the winter months.

And two prongs I want to discuss today, one on the electrical grid, and two on how some of these vehicles perform in the winter,

which is pretty important

for us here in Michigan.

On the electrical grid, look, we are already hearing warnings about what this summer is

going to look like across the country, whether it be here in Michigan, in Texas or throughout

the Midwest, there's warnings of rolling blackouts, there's warnings

of spikes in prices.

And this is without tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles coming on

to the grid.

Are we in any way prepared if electric vehicle advocates have their way, and these cars are more adopted across the

country, is the grid in any shape to handle what will be needed?

Well, the official answer, I think the electric vehicle industry would tell you is, don't worry,

everything is okay. And then if you wait long enough, they say, for now. And I think your question
