I'm the host Scott Feinberg and on this episode it's a great privilege to welcome as my guest Robert McKee.

For more than 30 years he's been the most famous screenwriting guru in the world.

His story seminar runs twice yearly in Los Angeles, New York, and London

and once a year in many other major cities. His book, entitled Story,

Substance Structure, Style, and the Principles of Screen screenwriting is widely regarded as the screenwriters

Bible, and he also maintains a blog and writer's resource website called Story Log, on which he offers

many tips as well as his views about new releases. Before McKee came on the scene, there were a many McKee rose to prominence, there have been many others who have tried to follow in his footsteps.

But none have been as successful or become as famous.

And certainly none have been portrayed in a major motion picture, as McKee famously was, by

Brian Cox in the 2002 film adaptation.

Whether you're familiar with McKee's work or you're not,

whether you believe in his methods or you don't,

whether you like him or hate him,

there's no denying that he's an interesting guy with a lot to say.

That's why his book is such a big seller.

It's why hundreds of people pay upwards of $500 to hear him speak every time he offers one of his seminars.
