Today we're discussing the Robert Durst murders.

Here's what you need to know.

Robert Durst was born in 1943 into one of New York's most powerful real

estate families, an inheritance that afforded him wealth, privilege, and insulation from consequences.

Over the course of four decades, three people close to Durst would disappear or die. For most

of that time, he remained free. The first was his

wife, Kathleen McCormick Durst. On the night of January 31st, 1982, Kathy left a friend's gathering

and went to the couple's South Salem, New York home.

Durst claimed later that that night, he drove the 29-year-old medical student to a train station

bound for New York City. The next morning, the dean of her school received a call from Kathy

saying that she was sick and would miss class that day.
