0:20.8	everyone. We don't trust each other. A 2014 survey by the National
0:29.7	Opinion Research Center said that less than one third of Americans believe most
0:35.4	people can be trusted. This is the lowest it's been since the early 70s when
0:40.6	they started doing the poll. And there was another study that I looked at
0:44.6	recently from Pew and it was all about trust issues and it said 58% of
0:50.0	Americans believe that most people would try to take advantage of them given the
0:54.6	chance. 62% believe most people only look after themselves. 71% are less
1:01.9	confident in people now as they were two decades ago. So interpersonal trust,
1:07.8	trust between us, you and me, is the worst that it's ever been in America but
1:13.6	there's a larger trust problem many would say. And that's institutional
1:17.4	distrust, a lack of trust for authority. There's a Gallup poll, this is my last
1:24.0	poll and then I'm done. A Gallup poll that they do every year that measures
1:29.6	confidence in a variety of institutions and places. In over the last 25
1:34.6	years, so just from the late 90s until now, the number of people who have little
1:40.1	or no confidence in Congress has more than doubled from 22% to 57%. People who
1:46.6	have little or no confidence in religious leaders has tripled almost from 13%
1:53.3	to 31%. In the same trends are true for education, law enforcement, big
2:00.3	business, every branch of government, tech companies, every type of news media,
2:06.1	we don't trust our institutions around us. And it's likely that none of this
