And I had an email on that before we get to the calls from Richard who says I'd love to go back to our 200th birthday.

That's my Groundhog Day replay. America was the greatest place on earth in July of 76 and everybody knew it in their hearts.

We were blessed by God and everything was going to be great in the decades ahead.

On top of this feeling I remember the music. Not all of it was amazing but so much

of it was cutting edge and transformative. I miss the America that I grew up in and

embrace it every time I get out of the city and away from the media, out in the country

where patriotism lives. God bless Richard. Well I will tell you it might surprise you to know that

the then sitting President Gerald Ford, his campaign song,

was I'm feeling good about America, I'm feeling good about me.

And that wasn't because people were feeling good about America and that wasn't because people were feeling good about America and themselves.

That was a wishful aspirational song and they played that song constantly to try to tell people things are good because they weren't good.

You remember them being good, but they weren't good.

We had stagflation, we were three years into the OPEC oil crisis. We had all three years into the OPEC oil crisis. We had all, we had a very high

unemployment. We were, shut up Ramon, we were coming out of the end of the Vietnam War and there was no way you could call it a win.

You had a lot of wounded in this country and they didn't have, you hadn't put them in a situation

where they got a victory. So what did we have to show for it? That wears on

the psyche of a nation, especially your young people. You didn't have jobs for them.

As Ramon pointed out, the clothing was awful. The hair was awful. All of it was awful. The only

thing good was the music. We're about to go into disco. But everybody knows who this guy is.

Come on, man.
