This is going to be a podcast that may well infuriate as well as elucidate,

because I'm going to ask you the very basic question, which is,

are you, like myself, sometimes flabbergasted, a fact that in Ireland, the public service,

public sector cannot get stuff done. If you've ever asked yourself, why can we not have the metro? Why can we not have the

hospital? Why can we not have the housing? Why can we not have all these basic, basic elements

that society is required to function? And why do we pay tax for a government that doesn't

seem to be able to deliver these things? If you ever ask yourself this question, this podcast is for you because we are going to talk

to Sheneid O'Sullivan.

Sheenade, who you will know has been on the podcast a couple of times over the last five or six

months, highlighting the ludicrous inefficiencies that exist in Irish public delivery.

Basically, the question is, what is the government for? That is the question. In today's podcast, we are now going to go straight with no bells or whistles. John now, I'll have a chat afterwards. No bells or whistles are going to go straight to Sheneid O'Sullivan. Just when you thought she had gone away, she has not gone away. Of course she has not gone away.

Sheenaed Sullivan who made a amazing debut on the podcast a couple of months ago with her vituperative attacks on, but actually very, very precise analysis of the dilemmas facing Ireland.

We asked a question at beginning of this year,

is Ireland actually one of the worst, maybe the worst governed rich country in the world?

And by that we meant the gap between the amount of money that's coming in, the fiscal position,

the extraordinary bonanza that is the corporate tax windfall

and the lamentable delivery of public services that most of the Europeans expect from a social

democracy and the fact that Ireland cannot, does not, will not, or has not delivered at any level in comparison to wealthy

north-western European countries, just taking it as it is.
