Now, as those of you who watch Mormonism Live, which I co-host every Wednesday evening with Bill Real may know. Several weeks ago,

we had on an individual who went by the name Abby Taylor, who had been involved, at least peripherally,

her husband was much more involved, believe me, with the practice of plural marriage. He became

enamored with a fundamentalist group that practiced plural marriage. And as part of that,

he not only entered into the practice of plural marriage, he also received the second anointing

ritual. And not only did he receive himself the second anointing ritual, he received a copy of the

ritual itself. He became promoted to the point where he could

perform it on his own, and therefore he had to have a script for it so that he could perform

it on other people. After this man died and Abby Taylor began going through his belongings,

she found printed out a number of documents and a number of articles.

He had done a lot of research and contained among these articles was not only a script for the

endowment ceremony, but also for the second anointing ceremony. This script is obviously not

directly from the LDS Church. However, we do know that the LDS Church

does perform secretly second anointings even to this day. That ritual is extremely sacred and

therefore extremely secret and the people who receive it are not supposed to tell anyone

that they are going to receive it or that they

have been chosen to receive it and they are certainly not to tell anybody after they have received

it that they have received it or know anything about the ceremony that's how secret this ceremony is

and why it is that so few members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints know of its existence.
