The HHS Secretary is hitting the streets.

The Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, he is implementing streets, safety through recovery, engagement, and evidence-based treatment and supports.

So on Monday, they announced a new $100 million effort, and this is to fight opioid addiction,

and they said it's to highlight the country's fragmented system for addressing substance abuse.

The goal here is to integrate housing, law enforcement, treatment centers, outpatient care, and sober living,

all in one coordinated pathway. And they're using $100 million to do it. Yeah, this is really

interesting. I mean, we obviously still have a pretty big addiction problem for all sorts of

substances in this country. It's been going on for decades now. Opioids have

certainly come to the forefront the last decade or more. Now, that has improved recently,

but the government was still spending an incredible amount of money trying to combat addiction

and mental health programs. The Trump administration tried to cancel a huge block of dollars,

$2 billion that they were funding for certain things. And of course, Congress, you know, there was a ton of backlash from the Democrats on that. And so we ended up doing it. But I think this is a really interesting program that RFK Jr. is trying to roll out here because it's a pilot program. So instead of sitting here and saying, okay, we're throwing another $2 billion at this and see what happens.

They're saying, okay, let's take a chunk of that, $100 million.

Let's do a pilot program.

They're going to do it in eight cities across the country.

And let's put some metrics and some accountability behind it.

So that if you're addicted and you want to get federal assistance for housing or federal assistance to find you a job or to pay your bills.

Great.

Meet some milestones in that.

And then we'll talk about getting you some help to find housing or to find a job or to help pay your bills.

And I think that that's probably a lot smarter than what we've currently been doing,
