Summary

Hello Beautiful Black Woman!

In this (rewind) episode I'm sharing five ways that show me the healing work we are doing is actually making a difference. This includes:

  • Understanding that there will still be hard things to process emotionally
  • Understanding my toxic patterns and behaviors
  • Not trying to change people but instead focusing on me
  • Realizing that I can choose what I do for healing

Listen in to todays episode and be sure to write down the affirmation that I provide at the end.

Hey, hey, you are listening to the Brown Girl Self Care podcast. My name is Bree Mitchell. I am the host of the show as well as the founder of Brown Girl Self Care, a space for black women who are getting to where the healing resides. Let's go ahead and jump into today's episode, y'all. Because we're transitioning into, excuse me, 2023.

0:30.3

And you might be wondering like, man, I don't even know if this is really working,

0:36.3

which trust me, if you're doing any type of steps

0:39.3

to embrace your wholeness and to heal and do those things, like, I can tell you that it's making

0:44.3

a difference, okay? It really is. It may not feel like it necessarily right now in this

0:48.8

exact moment, but I can tell you that progress is progress, okay? But you might be like, well, what are some ways that maybe I can identify with

0:58.8

that will help me to realize that this work that I'm doing is important.

1:02.4

It's major.

1:03.7

It's making a difference in my life.

1:06.9

I want to talk about that today.

1:08.3

So I'm going to share with you some things that I have learned, again, so far about my wholeness and healing.

1:14.3

And I'm really excited to share these things with you.

1:18.1

So let's get into it.

1:20.0

So the first thing that I would say that I've noticed or something that I've learned or want to share with you is that healing for me, it doesn't mean that I'll never experience hard things

1:28.4

that will need to be tended to or emotionally processed. And it's the same for you. Just because

1:34.8

you're embracing your wholeness, which is your birthright, and just because you're on this

1:38.6

healing journey and you may be seeing like shifts in your behavior, your patterns, the way you think and all that

1:45.0

stuff, which is amazing. I don't want you to think or get this narrative in your head that this

1:50.7

healing work means that you will never have some type of reaction to something or that you'll

1:57.1

never experience hard things that will, you know, always be super easy to process emotionally.
