Kost of the Crown Part 2. Duchies, Diamonds, and Darlies. The episode first came out in May. Here the investigation's

correspondent Mae McLenn attempt to understand the extent of royal wealth from

the value of their land to their most valuable treasures. We come to the Tower of London right back in the centre of the city right by the river. there's tons of people presumably tourists

around school trips and the like I make the trip across London with

investigations correspondent David Peg.

I don't think I've been in here to see the Crown Jewels before so it's quite new for me and a bit of a different

thing to be doing for a Guardian work day right David?

Yes.

We're researching Royal Wealth so it makes sense to head for the

public display of some of their greatest treasures. So coronation is in a couple of months that's going to involve crown jewels, the regalia, these

kind of essential items and artifacts of British history which are going to be worn in public in the way that they're

otherwise not really and they're on display here so we're going to go and see them.

We make our way inside, past crowds of people gathered around beef eaters, the traditional guards of the tower,

and entered a building where the crown jewels are kept.

Is it even the same?

I don't.

I think. Inside sparkling crowns and septors are displayed inside glass boxes. To view the crowns you have to step on this slow moving conveyable.

That is like a pot of glass has been tipped all over.

And there, amongst the glittering rubies in gold, a jewel with a history, the coe norm.
