I think that by 2023, Hillary Clinton will be the president.

I'm gonna go on the record with that.

It's incredibly aggressive and it seeks out exactly

the sort of cultural triumphs of the West

that are sort of most delightful to everybody

because those are the things that they want to claim

and make objects of cultural contestations

that they can own them.

I mean, famously, of course, art is exactly the football

that political factions use to take control of reality.

Conservatives, too, experience this kind of anxiety

of ambivalence where they want to reclaim the culture

but the culture seems sort of exhausted

and they want to reclaim the institutions

with the institution suck.

And I feel certain that below the papery layer

of the officialized celebration that we are seeing

come out of the woke champions of the institutions

is this kind of deep melancholy that like, well,

you know, why is it that we're only in charge

when these things are sort of slipping into obsolescence?
