| 0:11.0 | Thanks and enjoy the show! |
| 0:15.0 | Hello everybody and welcome to a brand new episode of Retrinauts Micro. This is your host Bob Mackie and in case you weren't aware of the whole micro format, these episodes are ones we do in the off weeks, typically either just me or Jeremy. |
| 0:41.0 | Talking about a subject that normally couldn't fill an entire 90 minute episode. |
| 0:45.0 | And these episodes couldn't happen without the help of our Patreon backers, so if you do back us, thanks a lot for your support. |
| 0:51.0 | Now before I begin, I have a little plug to tell you guys about and normally the plugs go at the end of the episode, but I'm putting this here to make it a little bit harder to skip. |
| 0:59.0 | So even though you can skip it, please don't. |
| 1:02.0 | So that said, I have a little podcast project that I'm guessing most of you, or at least a lot of you, will be interested in. |
| 1:08.0 | I'm finally doing my Dream Simpsons podcast with the LaserTime Network. |
| 1:12.0 | It's called Talking Simpsons and we're doing an episode of the podcast for every episode of the Simpsons starting with the first season. |
| 1:18.0 | Now this is not a commentary track, if that's what you're thinking, it is more of a companion piece to every episode of the Simpsons. |
| 1:25.0 | And if you're interested in listening to this podcast, just go to patreon.com slash LaserTime. |
| 1:30.0 | And for only $5 a month, you can listen to that podcast every week, along with a whole bunch of other great bonus stuff from the Amazing Crew over at the LaserTime Podcast Network. |
| 1:39.0 | Now that that bit of unprofessionalism is out of the way, it's time to talk about our main topic for this episode. |
| 1:47.0 | So if you've been listening to RetroNots since its beginning, you might have noticed that we've gotten kind of cranky about digital re-releases of old games over the past, let's say eight years, because it started off strong. |
| 2:00.0 | Like RetroNots was born out of this era where it seemed like there would always be digital re-releases of old games. |
| 2:06.0 | Virtual consoles started with three games a week, PSN was booming in those days, and we just assumed everything that we loved would eventually be replayable again. |
| 2:14.0 | You know, that certainly didn't bear out the way we thought it would. |
| 2:30.0 | These days, when an old game comes out on PSN of Virtual Console, it's usually once every three weeks, once every month, and then it's a game we didn't even ask for. |
| 2:39.0 | So while there are huge gaps in these libraries like, hey, you know, where's Yoshi's Island, the true Yoshi's Island, we have things like Spalunker, which, God, nobody's asking for this, and if you are shame on you, I'm just kidding, it's okay to like Spalunker. |
| 2:53.0 | Believe it or not, this scattershot approach does have its good qualities. |
