| 0:15.1 | Now, I've done several videos related to why someone might have a loss of smell, the |
| 0:26.9 | underlying cause, whether it's related to a virus or some other cause, I have some new |
| 0:33.5 | information I want to share with you on restoring your sense of smell. |
| 0:36.9 | Now, in some recent research that I've been looking at, there's some interesting data |
| 0:40.4 | on insulin. |
| 0:42.4 | Insulin is needed to repair the olfactory neurons, okay? |
| 0:47.8 | Now what you need to know is the olfactory neurons have everything to do with your receptors |
| 0:52.3 | for smell, which, if damaged, can majorly affect your ability to taste, by like a factor |
| 0:58.5 | of 80%. |
| 0:59.5 | So, if you can't smell, you're not going to be able to taste too well. |

| 1:14.6 | region of the brain, okay? |
| 1:17.0 | Now, this probably relates to the link between insulin and the storage of food, like that, |
| 1:23.0 | and smell and taste related to appetite. |
| 1:26.2 | And so insulin has a huge role in the recovery of neurons after an injury, okay? |
| 1:32.8 | So it is everything to do with regenerating the olfactory neurons. |
| 1:37.6 | And so if there is not enough insulin available, you're going to have a hard time recovering |
| 1:43.7 | from any type of injury to these neurons. |
| 1:46.8 | And this is why a diabetic and a prediabetic are hit a lot harder with the sense of smell |
