Well, friends, as we get started today, I want to ask you if you prayerfully consider helping out a member of my family

who is in desperate need right now. My oldest son, who is in his mid-30s, has four boys, is married,

really loves Jesus. He's got some very serious dental work that needs immediate attention. It's going to

require a major surgery, a bone graft,

over $25,000 worth of work that's going to have to be done, and it needs to happen right

verses 1 and 2, so get out your Bibles. If you have a Bible app, get it out. We're going to be

looking at that in just a moment. But before we do, I would like to ask you to pray with me

that the Holy Spirit will be our teacher today. Lord, I just love the book of First Peter.

And here at the beginning of chapter 5,

he's going to begin instructing those who are in leadership within the church.

We ask you to give us insight,

both as leaders in the church like I am

and for those who are not leaders,

that they can understand more, the role that the leaders

in the church are to take on, and they can both encourage and hold accountable those who are in

that place of leadership for the sake of the church being a healthy and strong and vibrant

witness for Jesus. We ask it in Jesus' name. Amen. Okay, friends, 1 Peter 5, verses 1 through 2.

It says, so I exhort the elders among you as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ,
