Job, chapter 20, verses 4 and 5.

Do not know this from a bold, since man was placed on earth, that the exulting of the wicked

0:15.2

is short, and the joy of the godless but for a moment.

0:22.6

So this is another one of those examples in the book of Job.

We're one of Job's friends, in this case, so far, is saying something that's true,

0:33.6

but he is applying it to Job, implying that this is Job's lot, that he's suffering because of his

1:54.0

remind us all in a fresh way today, that sin never delivers ultimately on what it promises,

2:03.8

like it's joy is just for a moment. The pleasures of sin do not last. They are short. Job

2:12.5

Chapter 20 verse 5 says, and so may we all today remember this, that when we are tempted to sin,

2:23.2

and when the adversary tells us that doing this, thinking this, desiring this saying, this acting

2:31.4

in this way will lead to something good for us. May we realize in that moment, it's not true,
